Chapter 12 - The Collapse of the Bellini Empire and the Woman Who Lost Everything in Red Silk

By Friday afternoon, the Bellini shipping empire had completely imploded under the weight of federal indictments and the sudden withdrawal of all Moretti capital.

Marco Bellini’s assets were frozen pending a full forensic audit, and his Lake Shore Drive mansion was repossessed by the banks. As for Vanessa Bellini, she found herself stripped of her designer wardrobe, her luxury cars, and her social standing.

According to Dante's security reports, Vanessa was spotted late Thursday evening packing her remaining belongings into two cheap cardboard boxes outside her father’s Cicero warehouse, wearing a mud-stained trench coat instead of her signature red silk gown. Her wedding planner, her high-society friends, and her donors had all blocked her phone numbers. She had gambled everything on a ruthless scheme to secure a billionaire's fortune, and in the end, she had lost absolutely everything.

At the Moretti estate, the dark cloud that had hung over the halls for months was completely gone. The staff moved with lighter steps, and the sound of Noah practicing his music on the grand piano echoed through the corridors every afternoon.

Luca and I spent the evening in the conservatory reviewing the architectural blueprints for the new Caroline & Noah Moretti Mobility Center downtown.

"You were incredible on the stand today, Hannah," Luca said softly, leaning back in his leather chair and looking across the blueprints at me. "The judge didn't stand a chance against you."

"I just told the truth," I smiled, feeling my cheeks warm under his intense gaze. "Noah gave me the courage."

Luca stood up, walked around the table, and stopped just inches away from my chair. He reached out, gently lifting my chin so our eyes met.

"You've given both of us something much greater than courage, Hannah," he murmured, his voice dropping an octave. "You've given us a home again."
