Chapter 14 - The Final Reckoning

By midnight, the threat had been neutralized, and the traitorous staff member had given up every remaining co-conspirator tied to Viktor Vance’s final, desperate plot. Gabriel handled the aftermath with ruthless, surgical precision, cutting out the cancer threatening his empire before the sun could rise over the snowy Chicago skyline.

I turned slightly in his arms, leaning my head against his shoulder, letting out a soft breath. “You provide the name and the walls, Gabriel. I provide the survival.”
“More than that,” he whispered, his hand gently tangling in my hair, tilting my face upward. “You are my equal, Clare. From this night forward, there are no secrets between us. No games.”
