Chapter 10 - THE SISTER'S TREACHERY

Rebecca's face was flushed, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Surprised, big brother?" she laughed hysterically.

"You thought it was just Vanessa, didn't you?"

Luca stepped past me, his voice trembling slightly.

"What are you doing, Becca? Put the detonator down."

"Never!" she screamed, waving the device.

"You gave everything to Sophie and Mom!"

"I was supposed to inherit the European shipping division!"

"Instead, you treated me like an errand girl!"

"You're my sister," Luca said, taking a slow step forward.

"I built this empire for our family."

"Your family!" Rebecca spat.

"You and your precious daughter and your new maid!"

She glanced over at my mother, tied to the beam.

"This old woman is just insurance, Luca."

"Step back, or I press the button."

I stared at Rebecca in absolute disbelief.

"She's recovering from surgery! She has nothing to do with this!"

"Shut up, peasant!" Rebecca snarled.

"This is between me and my brother."

Luca's eyes flicked to the wires on the detonator.

He calculated the distance. Ten feet. Too far to rush.

"Becca, listen to me," Luca spoke calmly, soothingly.

"Whatever financial troubles you have, I'll clear them."

"You don't understand," Rebecca sobbed.

"I owe two million to the Eastern syndicate."

"Vanessa introduced me to them."

"They said if I cleared out Mom and Sophie..."

"They'd cancel my debt and give me the European ports."

"Vanessa used you," Luca said coldly.

"She's sitting in a police holding cell right now."

Rebecca froze. "No... she has immunity."

"Not anymore," a voice echoed from the doorway.

Marcus stepped out, holding a tablet up.

"Federal indictment came through ten minutes ago."

"Vanessa confessed to everything to save herself."

Rebecca's knees buckled.

The detonator slipped slightly in her hand.

Luca didn't wait.

He lunged forward with explosive speed.
