Chapter 14 - THE FINAL RECKONING

The private jet touched down at JFK International Airport under a grey, drizzling sky.
A phalanx of federal agents and tactical units waited on the tarmac, surrounded by flashing red and blue police cruisers.
As the aircraft door opened, cold wind swept across the metal steps.
Dominic stepped out first, his posture straight and unyielding.
Viktor followed closely behind, escorting Richard Sterling and Vanessa in handcuffs.
Camera flashes blinded the morning air as reporters crowded behind the barricades, shouting frantic questions.
Vanessa hid her face behind her hair, sobbing as federal agents bundled her into the back of an unmarked cruiser.
Richard Sterling glared bitterly toward the cameras, his once-powerful stature completely diminished.
Margaret and Hannah descended together, arm in arm, stepping into the free air of New York without fear for the first time in four years.
Dominic walked over to them before they entered the secure transport vehicle.
“Your protection detail is arranged,” Dominic told Margaret. “You can live anywhere you choose, fully funded, safe.”
Margaret smiled warmly, placing a gentle hand on his forearm.
“And what about you, Dominic?”
Dominic looked back toward the New York skyline, where the towers of his family estate stood against the grey clouds.
“I have a house to clean out,” Dominic said quietly. “And a new legacy to build.”
Hannah stepped forward, looking up at him with immense respect and quiet affection.
“Thank you, sir. For everything.”
“Call me Dominic,” he replied, nodding respectfully.
As the transport vehicle pulled away, Dominic turned back to Viktor.
“Is the estate ready?”
“Yes, Boss. The police have finished collecting evidence in the west wing.”
Dominic climbed into his car, leaning his head back against the leather headrest.
The nightmare that had haunted him for four years was finally over.

The ghosts had been laid to rest.
And as the car drove away from the airport toward the mansion, Dominic knew that the antique mirror—the silent witness to the truth—would forever hang in his home, a reminder that the truth always finds a way into the light.
