Chapter 15 - BRIGHTER HORIZONS

The autumn wind rustled the golden leaves outside the tall windows of the Hollis estate.

The grand dining hall was filled with the warm, rich scent of roasted turkey and cinnamon pie.

It was the first time in years the mansion hosted a proper, joyful family dinner.

Lara sat at the head of the long mahogany table, dressed in a simple yet elegant evening gown.

Damian sat to her right, pouring sparkling cider into their glasses with a steady, confident hand.

At the opposite end, Grace was happily dissecting her slice of pie, her serious demeanor replaced by the genuine, carefree smile of a normal six-year-old child.

"To new beginnings," Damian said, raising his glass high.

Lara and Grace lifted their glasses to meet his in the center of the table.

The glasses chimed together with a clear, resonant ring that echoed pleasantly through the room.

"To new beginnings," Lara repeated softly, her eyes locked with Damian's.

The pain of the past months had forged an unbreakable bond between them.

Viviana was locked away behind cold prison bars where she could never hurt anyone again.

Sarah’s name had been cleared, and a memorial scholarship was officially established in her honor.

The Hollis family was safe, united, and stronger than ever before.

After dinner, Damian and Lara walked out onto the moonlit stone patio.

Grace had gone upstairs to finish reading her favorite book, leaving the two adults alone in the cool evening air.

Damian slipped his arm around Lara’s shoulders, pulling her close against his chest.

"I never thought I could feel this way again after everything that happened," Damian murmured, kissing the top of her head.

"Neither did I," Lara whispered, resting her head against his shoulder as she looked out over the quiet, peaceful gardens.

"We survived the storm, Damian."

"And we're never going back into the dark," he promised, his voice firm and reassuring.

The moon shone brightly overhead, casting a silver glow across the sprawling estate.

The secrets were buried.

The enemies were defeated.
