Chapter 14 - The Rosary Restored at DawnOn the evening before our wedding, our family gathered in the private dining salon of the estate for an intimate, peaceful celebration.

There were no armed bodyguards checking identification at the gates. No tension in the air.

The long mahogany table was covered with a simple, elegant white linen cloth, illuminated by soft candlelight and decorated with fresh white hydrangeas and fragrant sprigs of rosemary.

The people seated around the table were the true, honorable foundation of our new life:

Don Carmine Falcone, sitting tall and proud in his bespoke navy blazer, laughing as he shared stories of the old days with Marco.

Martha, looking radiant and healthy in an emerald velvet dress, sitting beside Mrs. Gable, laughing as they poured sparkling cider into everyone’s glasses.

Assistant US Attorney Marcus Vance and Dr. Elena Aris, sitting as honored guests alongside senior maritime union leaders from the docks.

And at the head of the table sat Dante Moretti, looking more relaxed, powerful, and peaceful than he had ever appeared in his life.

At eight o'clock, I tapped my wine glass with my silver dessert spoon.

The room fell into an eager, affectionate hush.

I stood up, my deep, resonant baritone carrying clearly to every soul in the vaulted room.

“Fifteen years ago,” I began, my gray eyes shining with an emotion so deep it made Clara’s heart overflow, “this house was plunged into darkness by greed, treachery, and hidden theft. We believed that an empire was built on fear, silence, and iron fists.”

I looked directly at Clara, then down at Martha, my smile radiant and full of love.

“Clara brought the truth back to this table. She reminded us that an empire that does not protect the people who carry its trays is an empire built on sand. She taught me that true power is the courage to stand unbroken, to defend the sacred ground of our ancestors, and to love without fear.”

I raised my glass of vintage Barolo high into the air.

“To Donna Clara! To Martha! And to the eternal honor of the Moretti dynasty!”

Every single person in the room stood to their feet, raising their glasses in a joyous, heartfelt cheer:

“To Donna Clara! To Don Dante! Viva la famiglia!”

Martha wiped tears of pure joy from her cheeks, while Falcone clapped his hands with unbridled joy.

I pulled Clara gently to my feet, my arms wrapping around her, my lips meeting hers in a tender, lingering kiss that sealed our family's redemption forever.
