Chapter 14 - The Silver Cross RestoredOn the evening before their wedding, our family gathered in the private dining salon of the estate for an intimate, peaceful celebration.

There were no armed bodyguards checking identification at the gates. No tension in the air.

The long mahogany table was covered with a simple, elegant white linen cloth, illuminated by soft candlelight and decorated with fresh white hydrangeas and fragrant sprigs of rosemary.

The people seated around the table were the true, honorable foundation of our new life:

Don Carmine Falcone, sitting tall and proud in his bespoke navy blazer, laughing as he shared stories of the old days with Frank.

Don Antonio, looking radiant and healthy in an emerald velvet dress coat, holding baby Gabriel in his arms with gentle, adoring pride.

Mrs. Gable, sitting with her grandchildren, laughing as they poured sparkling cider into everyone’s glasses.

Assistant US Attorney Marcus Vance, sitting as an honored guest alongside senior maritime union leaders from the docks.

And at the head of the table sat Dante Bellini, looking more relaxed, powerful, and peaceful than he had ever appeared in his life.

At eight o'clock, Dante tapped his wine glass with his silver dessert spoon.

The room fell into an eager, affectionate hush.

Dante stood up, his deep, resonant baritone carrying clearly to every soul in the vaulted room.

“Eight years ago,” Dante began, his dark eyes shining with an emotion so deep it made Clara’s heart overflow, “this house was plunged into darkness by greed, treachery, and hidden cruelty. We believed that an empire was built on fear, silence, and iron fists.”

He looked directly at Clara, then down at baby Gabriel, and finally at his father, his smile radiant and full of love.

“Clara Bellini brought the truth back to this table. She reminded us that an empire that does not protect the people who scrub its floors is an empire built on sand. She taught me that true power is the courage to stand unbroken, to defend the weak, and to love without fear.”

He raised his glass of vintage port high into the air.

“To Donna Clara! To little Gabriel! To Don Antonio! And to the eternal honor of the Bellini dynasty!”

Every single person in the room stood to their feet, raising their glasses in a joyous, heartfelt cheer:

“To Donna Clara! To Don Dante! Viva la famiglia!”

Antonio cheered loudly from the table, raising his glass with a booming shout of celebration, while Falcone clapped his hands with unbridled joy.

Dante pulled Clara gently to her feet, his arms wrapping around her, his lips meeting hers in a tender, lingering kiss that sealed our family's redemption forever.
