Chapter 14 - The Ring of Silver and Obsidian

He pulled a small velvet box from his pocket.

He opened the lid under the firelight.

Inside lay an exquisite ring crafted from blackened Corsican obsidian, set with

a brilliant, flawless white diamond and flanked by two tiny carved silver

feathers.

The Moreau family crest, reimagined in pure light.

Dominic dropped to one knee on the Persian rug.

The feared Iron Raven of France.

Bowing before the woman who had scrubbed his stone corridors.

“Sylvie Laurent,” Dominic said, his deep voice trembling with emotion.

“Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife? Will you rule this fortress

beside me as my equal?”

Tears of pure happiness spilled down my cheeks.

“Yes, Dominic. A thousand times, yes.”

He slipped the ring onto my finger.

It fit as if it had been forged by destiny.

He stood up, lifting me into his arms, kissing me deeply as the fire crackled in

the hearth.
