Chapter 11 - Storm Over the Salt Marsh

Salvatore Delacroix threw his empty gun onto the wet deck.
"Take the guns, Lorenzo. Take the territory. Just let me take my boat back to
Mobile."
Lorenzo stopped five paces away.
"You put poison in my mother's chapel."
"That was Bianca's idea!" Delacroix stammered, raising his palms.
"She said she had the whole family under her thumb! She promised fifty percent
of the shipping lanes!"
"My mother treated your family with respect for thirty years," Lorenzo said
coldly.
"You broke the Southern treaty."
"If you kill me, the Gulf cartel will burn your ports!" Delacroix threatened,
desperate rage flaring in his eyes.
Lorenzo pulled out his phone and pressed a button.
"Turn on your radio, Salvatore."
A small marine radio on the barge crackled with an emergency broadcast:
Coast Guard and Federal Maritime Strike Teams have seized four container vessels
belonging to Delacroix Logistics off the coast of Biloxi. Over thirty tons of
contraband recovered.
Delacroix’s face turned gray.
"You... you tipped off the feds?"
"I don't need to kill you, Salvatore," Lorenzo said with a lethal smirk.
"The federal government will take everything you own. And the men you owe money
to will finish the job in a federal penitentiary."
Two federal gunboats appeared around the river bend, sirens wailing,
searchlights cutting through the mist.
Dozens of armed tactical officers stormed the barge.
Lorenzo stepped back into the shadows of the refinery.
