Chapter 13 - Cleaning House along the BoardwalkOn the evening before our wedding, our family gathered in the private dining salon of the estate for an intimate, peaceful celebration.

There were no armed bodyguards checking identification at the gates. No tension in the air.
The long mahogany table was covered with a simple, elegant white linen cloth, illuminated by soft candlelight and decorated with fresh white hydrangeas and fragrant sprigs of rosemary.
The people seated around the table were the true, honorable foundation of our new life:
Marcus Falcone, sitting tall and proud in his bespoke navy blazer, laughing as he shared stories of the old days with Frank Russo.
Toby, sitting beside Dr. Elena Aris, looking sharp and proud in his miniature white lace suit, reviewing architectural blueprints for the new pediatric center.
Mrs. Gable, sitting with her grandchildren, enjoying a glass of vintage Barolo.
Assistant US Attorney Marcus Vance, sitting as an honored guest alongside senior maritime union leaders from the docks.
And at the head of the table sat Dante Moretti, looking more relaxed, powerful, and peaceful than he had ever appeared in his life.
At eight o'clock, I tapped my wine glass with my silver dessert spoon.
The room fell into an eager, affectionate hush.
I stood up, my deep, resonant baritone carrying clearly to every soul in the vaulted room.
“Five years ago,” I began, my gray eyes shining with an emotion so deep it made Elena’s heart overflow, “this house was governed by men who believed that power was measured by fear, isolation, and iron fists. When I was trapped in that chair, we believed that money could buy anything—and we were proven completely helpless.”
I looked directly at Elena, then down at Toby, my smile radiant and full of love.
“Elena and Toby brought the truth back to this table. They reminded us that the greatest power on this earth is the courage to speak in the dark, to stand unbroken in the face of treachery, and to love without fear.”
I raised my glass of vintage port high into the air.
“To Donna Elena! To Toby! To Sofia! And to the eternal honor of the Moretti dynasty!”
Every single person in the room stood to their feet, raising their glasses in a joyous, heartfelt cheer:
“To Donna Elena! To Don Dante! Viva la famiglia!”

Toby cheered loudly from the table, raising his glass with a booming shout of celebration, while Falcone clapped his hands with unbridled joy.
I pulled Elena gently to her feet, my arms wrapping around her, my lips meeting hers in a tender, lingering kiss that sealed our family's redemption forever.
