He slid the cool platinum onto my finger.
It fit as if it had been forged for my hand.
Adrian pulled me against his chest, his arms wrapping around me like iron bands
of absolute safety.
He kissed me deeply, his lips warm and demanding, sealing the vow between us.
From the doorway, three heads popped into view.
Owen, Maya, and Lucy were peeking around the mahogany doorframe.
Owen cheered, running into the room and wrapping his arms around his father’s
leg.
Maya giggled, hugging my waist.
Lucy stepped forward, looking at the ring on my finger.
Her eyes shone with unshed tears of pure joy.
She raised her hands and signed to me:
Mom?
The word struck my heart with the force of a tidal wave.
I dropped to my knees on the oriental rug, opening my arms wide.
“Yes, Lucy,” I signed with trembling hands. “Always your mom.”
Lucy dove into my arms, burying her face into my neck.
Adrian knelt beside us, wrapping his massive arms around all four of us.
A complete circle.
