Chapter 15 - The Hands That Never Hide (The End)

One year later.

The grand dining room of the Marzano estate was filled with sixty guests.

Our wedding reception was in full swing.

There were no bodyguards with machine guns in the hallways.

No nervous whispers.

Only family, laughter, and the gentle strum of an acoustic guitar by the hearth.

The white linen tablecloth was draped across the massive table.

At the head of the table sat Lucy.

She wore a pale lilac silk dress, her hair pinned up with fresh baby’s breath

flowers.

Beside her, Owen and Maya were building a tower out of sugar cubes, giggling as

it tumbled over.

A guest from the city council leaned over to Lucy, asking her a question about

her upcoming art exhibition.

Lucy didn't look down.

She didn't flinch.

She didn't tuck her arms into her lap.

She lifted both hands high above the white linen table.

Her fingers danced under the crystal chandelier light, telling her story with

vibrant, effortless grace.

Across the room, I stood beside Adrian, resting my head against his broad

shoulder.

His hand was resting over mine, our wedding bands gleaming together in the

candlelight.

Adrian looked at his daughter, his eyes overflowing with pride.

He looked down at me, pressing a soft kiss against my temple.

“Look at her,” Adrian murmured.

“She’s flying,” I whispered, smiling through happy tears.

Lucy caught our gaze from across the banquet table.

She paused her conversation for two seconds.

She lifted one hand and signed toward her father and me:

I love you.

Adrian lifted his hand and signed back:

We love you.

There were no more secrets in this house.

No more darkness.

No more fear.

The hands that had once been hidden beneath the table were now the hands that

held our whole world together.

May you like

And they would never have to hide again.

THE END
