Chapter 10 - Turning The Page And Preparing For A Brand New Dawn

The morning sun cast a golden glow across the marble floors of the grand foyer. Exactly one week had passed since the dramatic confrontation at the banquet table that had shattered Vanessa Bellini's empire of lies.

The mansion felt entirely different now. The cold, sterile atmosphere engineered by Vanessa during her years as the presumptive mistress of the house had been completely purged. Fresh white lilies adorned the mahogany tables, classical music drifted softly through the speakers, and the domestic staff moved with genuine smiles rather than guarded fear.

I stood in the center of the grand library, organizing the final inventory logs for the estate's charitable foundation—a new initiative funded by Luca to support families recovering from medical trauma and corporate exploitation, with my mother appointed as its honorary board advisor.

“You know, you don't have to carry clipboards around like you're still working the morning shift,” a deep, familiar voice teased from the doorway.

I turned to see Luca leaning against the oak doorframe, wearing a relaxed charcoal sweater instead of his usual three-piece suit. The tattoos across his hands were visible, but the hard, dangerous edge in his eyes had softened completely over the past week.

“Habits die hard, Mr. Moretti,” I smiled, setting the clipboard down on the mahogany desk.

“Call me Luca,” he corrected gently, stepping into the room. “Especially now that we're officially business partners in running the most chaotic philanthropic foundation in Illinois.”

“Fair enough, Luca,” I laughed softly.

Elena walked into the library a moment later, looking healthier and more radiant each day as she regained her strength. “The legal team just called,” she announced with a triumphant grin. “The final assets seized from Vanessa's personal trust have been fully liquidated and transferred into the foundation's account. She has nothing left.”

“Let her spend the next twenty years reflecting on her choices in a federal penitentiary,” Luca said without a hint of remorse.

I looked around the room at the people who had endured unimaginable trials and emerged on the other side stronger, wiser, and entirely free. The nightmare was over. But as I looked toward the future, I knew this was only the beginning of a completely new chapter.
