Chapter 12 - The Confession Under the ChandeliersForty-eight hours after the highway ambush, the grand ballroom of the Garden District estate was packed once more—not with terrified European shipping magnates, but with federal judges, state prosecutors, and leading journalists from across the country.

Charles and Camilla Dupont sat at the center of the room in handcuffs, surrounded by federal marshals, their arrogant facades completely shattered.

Julian stood at the head of the grand mahogany table, his arm resting gently around my waist as I stood beside him wearing an elegant midnight-blue silk gown.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” Julian’s baritone voice echoed clearly through the vaulted hall. “For twelve years, this city lived under the shadow of a lie—a lie constructed by men who believed that wealth and power could buy immunity from murder, forgery, and extortion.”

He gestured toward the federal prosecutor, who stepped forward holding the original ledger and audio confessions.

“Today,” Julian continued, “the truth has been restored. The assets stolen from my mother’s estate have been recovered and placed into a charitable trust dedicated to the healthcare and maritime education of New Orleans families.”

Charles Dupont stared blankly at the floor, refusing to meet anyone’s eyes, while Camilla wept hysterically into her handcuffed wrists as flashbulbs blinded them from every angle.

The nightmare was finally over. The empire built on blood and deceit had crumbled into dust, and a new era had begun.
