Chapter 15 - THE END OF THE STORM

Ten months later, the spring sun had finally melted the last remnants of the Chicago winter, bringing vibrant green life back to the shores of Lake Michigan.

The DeLuca estate was no longer a monolithic fortress of isolation and fear; the heavy security gates stood open during the day, welcoming laughter, light, and peace into the sprawling courtyard.

Inside the bright, sunlit master suite, Harper stood before the tall mirror, adjusting the collar of her blouse.

The silvery scars remained across her collarbone, but they no longer felt like brand marks of ownership.

They were simply battle scars—proof of a war she had fought, survived, and won.

Strong, warm arms wrapped around her waist from behind, resting comfortably against her slightly rounded stomach.

Enzo pressed a soft kiss to the side of her neck, his dark eyes meeting hers in the mirror with a deep, abiding devotion.

"Are you ready for the foundation gala tonight?" Enzo murmured, his voice a comforting rumble against her ear.

Harper smiled, leaning back into his embrace and placing her hand over his.

"Everything is ready," she whispered. "The Nathan DeLuca Foundation is fully funded, and the first wave of scholarships for at-risk youth goes out tonight."

Enzo smiled, turning her gently in his arms so she was facing him.

He looked down at her with all the love and adoration he had once reserved only for the ghosts of his past.

"You saved me, Harper," Enzo said softly, his voice thick with emotion.

"You walked into my house as a stranger wrapped in a ruined wedding gown, and you brought light back into a world I thought was lost forever."

Harper wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down into a tender, lingering kiss.

"We saved each other, Enzo," she whispered against his lips.

Downstairs, the grandfather clock struck eight, its chimes ringing out clear and resonant through the peaceful halls of the estate.

The war was over.

The darkness had passed.

And together, they walked out into the sunlight of their new beginning.
