Chapter 8 - Neon Lights and Midnight ThreatsI stepped forward into the circle of light, looking down at the man who had casually thrown me out into the freezing snow less than seventy-two hours ago. The terror in Finch’s eyes was absolute, but there was no satisfaction in it—only a cold, hollow realization of how fragile power truly is when it’s built on the backs of the vulnerable.

“Sign it, Arthur,” I said quietly.
Finch looked up at me, his lips trembling. “Clara... please. You know how this works. If I sign this, I’m ruined. I’ll spend the rest of my life facing federal fraud charges.”
“No,” Dante corrected coldly, his voice like grinding ice. “If you sign this, you avoid the bottom of Boston Harbor. The federal indictment will still process your financial crimes in the morning, but you will spend your prison sentence knowing that everything your family stole has been returned to the people they bled dry.”
With trembling fingers, guided by Dante’s silent, towering presence, Finch pressed his thumb onto the biometric scanner wired to the laptop and clicked the authorization button. A soft digital chime confirmed the transfer.

Within seconds, the ownership of the entire commercial strip—including the Old Wharf Diner—was legally transferred out of the Finch family name forever.
As Dante’s associates untied Finch and dragged him toward a waiting transit van bound for the federal courthouse downtown, the heavy steel doors of the warehouse slammed shut behind them, plunging the room back into a dim, echoing quiet.
