THE MAFIA'S MAGNETIC CAGE

Two weeks later, on a crisp, sunlit Saturday afternoon, Dante, Rose, and Toby brought fresh white lilies to the historic cemetery on the ridge overlooking the Las Vegas valley.

The cemetery was quiet, peaceful, and bathed in golden autumn light that filtered through the ancient desert palms.

They walked down a secluded gravel path until they reached a beautiful, shaded plot surrounded by blooming white oleanders and fragrant rosemary bushes.

Standing beneath a towering granite cross was the headstone of Dante’s father, Don Antonio Santoro:

Antonio Santoro (1942–2018) — Sovereign of the Sands, An Honest Father.

Fresh bouquets of white calla lilies, red roses, and fragrant sweet basil rested at the base of the stone.

Dante knelt beside his father’s headstone, resting his hand on the carved granite, his gray eyes bright with tears of profound, eternal peace.

“We brought the truth home, Dad,” Dante whispered softly through his tears. “The traitors are broken. The Strip is clean. The iron is back on its feet forever.”

Rose stepped forward, kneeling beside him on the gravel path, resting her hand respectfully on the stone.

“Your son carries your courage, Don Antonio,” Rose said softly, her voice carrying clearly across the quiet churchyard. “He is the sovereign of our family. In this house, your honor will never be forgotten.”

Toby knelt beside them, placing the heavy horseshoe magnet—polished until the iron shone like dark silver—beside the lilies on the stone.

“Thank you, Don Antonio,” Toby whispered. “We will protect the empire forever.”

Dante stood up, pulling Rose and Toby into his arms, wrapping his heavy wool overcoat around both of them, shielding them from the mountain wind.

He reached into his pocket and produced an antique silver pocket watch that had belonged to his grandfather, sliding the chain into Toby’s palm.
