Chapter 14 - The Horseshoe Magnet Restored

On the evening before our wedding, our family gathered in the private dining salon of the penthouse for an intimate, peaceful celebration.
There were no armed bodyguards checking identification at the gates. No tension in the air.
The long mahogany table was covered with a simple, elegant white linen cloth, illuminated by soft candlelight and decorated with fresh white hydrangeas and fragrant sprigs of rosemary.
The people seated around the table were the true, honorable foundation of our new life:
Marcus Falcone, sitting tall and proud in his bespoke navy blazer, laughing as he shared stories of the old days with Frank Morelli.
Toby, looking radiant and healthy in an emerald velvet dress coat, sitting beside Dr. Elena Aris, laughing as they reviewed architectural blueprints for the new pediatric center.
Mrs. Gable, sitting with her grandchildren, enjoying a glass of vintage Barolo.
Assistant US Attorney Marcus Vance, sitting as an honored guest alongside senior resort union leaders from the Strip.
And at the head of the table sat Dante Santoro, looking more relaxed, powerful, and peaceful than he had ever appeared in his life.
At eight o'clock, Dante tapped his wine glass with his silver dessert spoon.
The room fell into an eager, affectionate hush.
Dante stood up, his deep, resonant baritone carrying clearly to every soul in the vaulted room.
“Four years ago,” Dante began, his gray eyes shining with an emotion so deep it made Rose’s heart overflow, “this house was governed by men who believed that power was measured by fear, isolation, and iron fists. We believed that an empire was built on ledgers and unbending force.”
He looked directly at Rose, then down at Toby, his smile radiant and full of love.
“Rose and Toby Quinn brought the truth back to this table. They reminded us that an empire that does not protect the people who wash its dishes is an empire built on sand. They taught me that true power is the courage to stand unbroken when everyone else is silent.”
He raised his glass of vintage port high into the air.
“To Donna Rose! To Toby! And to the eternal honor of the Santoro dynasty!”
Every single person in the room stood to their feet, raising their glasses in a joyous, heartfelt cheer:
“To Donna Rose! To Don Dante! Viva la famiglia!”
Toby cheered loudly from the table, raising his glass with a booming shout of celebration, while Falcone clapped his hands with unbridled joy.

Dante pulled Rose gently to her feet, his arms wrapping around her, his lips meeting hers in a tender, lingering kiss that sealed our family's redemption forever.
