THE MAFIA'S MAGNETIC CAGE / Chapter 12 / 15

Chapter 12 - A Sanctuary in the Penthouse Suite

By late May, the transformation of their lives was complete.

The private master suite on the top floor of the Bellagio had become a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and light.

The floor-to-ceiling windows looked out over the sparkling blue waters of the fountains, while fresh bouquets of white hydrangeas and fragrant magnolias adorned every table.

Toby had completed his first semester at the prestigious laboratory school in Henderson, his grades outstanding, his laughter filling the sunlit corridors that had once known only cold silence.

And every Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM, without fail, the long mahogany dining table was filled with family.

Marcus Falcone would sit at the head of the table, laughing as he carved the prime rib, while Mrs. Gable brought platters of handmade pasta and warm sourdough bread from the kitchen.

One sunny Saturday afternoon in June, the air was warm and sweet, carrying the fresh scent of blooming desert jasmine and clean pool water.

Rose walked along the stone terrace overlooking the water, wearing an ivory silk blouse and tailored dark trousers, her dark hair dancing in the breeze.

Dante stood by the stone balustrade, wearing an open-collared navy linen shirt, watching the fountains sway across the basin.

When he heard her footsteps on the flagstones, he turned around.

His face lit up with that rare, breathtaking smile that always made her heart race.

He walked across the terrace to meet her, wrapping his arm around her waist, pulling her gently against his solid, warm chest.

He buried his face into the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply.

“Vanilla, desert breeze, and clean spring rain,” he murmured against her skin, sending a delicious shiver down her spine. “The only scent I ever want to come home to.”

Rose leaned back against his arm, smiling up into his soulful gray eyes.

“The academy enrolled two hundred new apprentices this morning, Dante,” she whispered.

“And the new resort wing opened without a single hour of delay,” Dante smiled against her cheek. “All thanks to our Executive Trustee.”

“All thanks to a King who had the good sense to listen to an eight-year-old boy,” she teased, tracing the rugged line of his jaw.

Dante chuckled—a rich, deep, joyful sound that echoed across the terrace—and tightened his grip around her waist.

He looked down at her, his expression shifting into a register of profound, breathtaking seriousness that made her pulse jump.

“Rose,” he said softly.

“Yes, Dante?”

He reached into his pocket and produced an antique silver pocket watch that had belonged to his grandfather, sliding the chain into her palm.

“Our family is whole, Rose. The cage will never close again.”
