Chapter 11 - The Gathering Storm in Geneva

Three weeks had passed since the complete dismantlement of Arthur Sterling’s corporate empire and the total eradication of the Eastern Syndicate's local cells. The Moretti estate had returned to a rhythm of quiet, unbreakable strength. My head was completely clear, free from the phantom static and sudden neurological fog that had plagued my existence for thirty-six months. Yet, in the underworld, power vacuums never remained empty for long.
Late one evening, seated at my mahogany desk in the grand library, my secure satellite phone lit up with an encrypted ping. It was an international alert routing through our offshore intelligence nodes in Zurich.
Luca stepped into the room, his face etched with grim seriousness, carrying a heavy leather portfolio. "Boss, we've picked up secure chatter from the Swiss directorate. The global board of the Eastern Syndicate isn't taking Sterling's collapse lying down. They've convened an emergency tribunal in Geneva to vote on a total liquidation order for the Moretti family."
I didn't flinch. I slowly closed the fountain pen I was using to sign logistics manifests and leaned back in my leather chair. "A liquidation order? They think they can wipe out a century-old dynasty with a boardroom vote?"
"They're dispatching their top enforcement division—The Vanguard," Luca warned, placing the portfolio on my desk. "These aren't local thugs or corrupt capos. They're elite mercenaries trained in corporate sabotage, advanced cyber-warfare, and quiet assassinations. They're planning to strike while we're vulnerable, targeting our international shipping lanes simultaneously to cut off our cash flow before launching a direct assault on the estate."

I opened the portfolio. Inside were high-resolution surveillance photographs of a sprawling, heavily fortified chalet overlooking Lake Geneva, along with dossiers on the three remaining global directors of the Eastern Syndicate who were orchestrating the plot.
"They want a global war?" I asked, a cold, dangerous smile touching my lips. "Then we'll take the fight straight to their doorstep. We aren't going to wait for them to bring their war to our gates. Pack your tactical gear, Luca. We're flying to Switzerland tonight."
