Chapter 13 - Operation Alpine Shadow

The wind howling off Lake Geneva was bone-chilling, whipping snow across the sheer rock face of the mountain where the syndicate’s Swiss headquarters stood like a dark fortress against the moonlight.

Hanging suspended from the heavy steel cable of the maintenance lift, I looked down at the icy black waters churning thousands of feet below. Beside me, Luca and four of our most lethal enforcers moved with silent, ghostly efficiency, our grappling hooks locking securely onto the cliffside service platform.

With a soft click, the heavy maintenance door gave way under a pneumatic hydraulic bypass tool. We slipped into the subterranean utility level of the chalet without a single alarm sounding. The air inside was warm, smelling of polished mahogany, expensive cologne, and high-end cigars.

"First-level security detail neutralized," Luca whispered softly through the optical comm-link, flashing a thumbs-up as two syndicate guards slumped silently against the concrete pillars, bound and gagged.

We moved up the marble staircase toward the grand executive salon on the top floor. Through the double mahogany doors, I could hear the muffled, arrogant voices of the three global directors arguing over how to divide the remnants of my empire once the liquidation order was complete.

I raised my hand, signaling the team to halt. I reached out, gripped the brass handles of the double doors, and pushed them open with a sudden, thunderous crash that echoed through the luxurious chamber like a gunshot.
