Chapter 2 - Shadows of the Seawall VaultThe storm raged on with unyielding fury, howling against the reinforced glass windows of the main mansion, but inside the domestic quarters, the terror was entirely man-made.

Mrs. Cruz worked the exhausted household staff to the bone, barking orders while secretly checking her diamond-encrusted watch every ten minutes. She was terrified that Christian Junior would return from the marina before she could sweep away any evidence of her systemic cruelty.
Sofia was assigned to mop the slippery, salt-slicked tiles of the east service corridor. Her lower back burned with a dull, throbbing ache, and every step sent sharp spikes of pain down her swollen legs.
Yet, the moment Mrs. Cruz retreated to her glass-walled office to review inventory lists, Sofia dropped her mop bucket, wiped her cold brow, and slipped away into the shadows toward the damp subterranean stone stairs leading down to the east seawall.
When she unlocked the rusted iron latch of Room 1B, the heavy door groaned softly against the salt air. Christian Senior sat in his usual spot in the center of the dark vault.
In the dim glow of the emergency lantern, his dark, hooded eyes met hers with an unreadable, piercing depth.
Sofia quickly set down a fresh cup of cool peppermint water and a damp cloth, gently wiping the salt sweat from his weathered forehead.
“He’s here, John,” Sofia whispered softly, her voice trembling slightly as she smoothed the collar of his clean singlet. “Christian Junior arrived with the security convoy this morning. Mrs. Cruz told him you were resting in the private medical wing. She lied right to his face.”

Inside that paralyzed frame, Christian Senior’s chest rose and fell in a rigid, controlled rhythm. His dark eyes burned with an icy, terrifying promise of retribution.
Unbeknownst to them, high above in the estate's central security hub, Barrett—Christian Junior's chief tactical enforcer—was tracking anomalous energy draws on the building's digital blueprints, zeroing in directly on the unlisted power cable running down into the seawall basement.
