Chapter 9 - The Heiress’s Calculated SlitBefore Sofia could process the staggering weight of his words, the heavy mahogany double doors of the grand foyer burst open with explosive force.

A violent gust of wind swept inside, carrying a storm-battered, uninvited visitor.
It was Genevieve Cartier—the arrogant, diamond-drenched daughter of a powerful European arms cartel. She had flown her private jet into Key Biscayne unannounced, assuming the hurricane chaos would give her unfair leverage over Christian’s multi-million-dollar maritime shipping contracts.
Genevieve took one look at Sofia standing in her stained maid’s smock with her hand resting in Christian’s, and a venomous, aristocratic sneer twisted her painted lips.
“What in God’s name is this filthy domestic beggar doing in your salon, Christian?” Genevieve hissed, clicking across the marble floor in her designer heels, her wet silk dress clinging to her frame. “Get this pregnant trash out of my sight before I have my personal bodyguards throw her into the surf.”
Blinded by jealous fury, Genevieve lashed out with a heavy diamond-encrusted bracelet on her wrist.

Before Christian or the guards could react, Genevieve viciously swiped her arm across Sofia’s chest, ripping the front of Sofia’s thin maid blouse wide open to humiliate her before the entire security detail.
Sofia let out a sharp gasp of shock, instinctively crossing her arms over her torn clothing as burning tears of humiliation flooded her eyes.
