Chapter 13 - The Wedding Morning And The Sunrise Over Boston

The morning of the wedding arrived with a brilliant, golden sunrise that painted the Boston skyline in hues of amber and rose. The private estate gardens had been transformed into an ethereal wonderland of white roses, cascading fairy lights, and elegant white chairs arranged neatly on the immaculate lawn.
I stood in front of the massive gilded mirror in the master suite, staring at my reflection. I wore the stunning white lace gown Adrian had secretly helped design—classic, timeless, and perfectly fitted to my style. My hair was gathered in soft waves, interwoven with delicate baby's breath.
There was a soft knock at the door, and Mrs. Gable walked in, her eyes watering as she took in my appearance. "Oh, my sweet girl," she whispered, dabbing her eyes with a lace handkerchief. "You look breathtaking. Rebecca would have adored you."
Before I could reply, the door swung open completely, and Lily and Emma came running in, dressed in their adorable miniature bridesmaid dresses, looking like two little angels.
"Claire! You look like a real princess!" Emma gasped, clapping her hands.
"Daddy is waiting by the arch, and he looks very handsome, but he's pacing back and forth like he's about to fight an army!" Lily giggled.
Ten minutes later, the gentle strains of a string quartet began to drift across the gardens. Guests—a carefully curated circle of trusted friends, loyal estate staff, and federal officials who had helped clean up the syndicate mess—turned around as the heavy wooden doors swung open.
Lily and Emma walked down the aisle first, scattering soft pink rose petals across the white runner with wide, beaming smiles.

And then, holding my father's arm—who had flown in from Chicago and looked prouder than ever—I stepped out into the crisp autumn sunlight.
Standing at the altar beneath the floral arch was Adrian. He wore a sharp, tailored navy tuxedo, his dark hair neatly combed, his eyes locked entirely onto mine. As I walked closer, I could see the raw emotion shining in his gaze—complete, unadulterated devotion.
