Chapter 15 - The Grand Reception, The First Dance, And The Happy Ending

The evening reception under the illuminated weeping willow tree was nothing short of magical. String lights twinkled overhead like a captured canopy of stars, jazz music drifted through the warm autumn air, and the laughter of happy children echoed across the lawn.
During the reception dinner, Adrian stood up clinking his glass gently with a silver spoon, demanding the attention of the crowded garden.
"Before we cut the cake," Adrian said, his dark eyes sweeping over the gathered guests before resting entirely on me, "I want to propose one final toast. To the woman who walked into the darkest house in Boston and turned it into a home. To my wife, my partner, and my soulmate. Claire Mercer."
Glasses raised in unison, cheers erupted, and I felt my cheeks flush with a happy warmth as Adrian walked over, pulled me to my feet, and led me out onto the illuminated dance floor for our first dance.
As the romantic notes of our favorite song filled the air, Adrian wrapped his strong arms securely around my waist, pulling me close. Lily and Emma quickly joined us, wrapping their small arms around our legs and dancing along with unbridled joy.
I rested my head against Adrian's shoulder, breathing in the familiar scent of cedarwood, scotch, and autumn rain. I looked up at the sparkling Boston sky, realizing that every terrifying twist, every midnight shadow, and every risk had led me exactly where I was meant to be.
