Chapter 14 - Vows Beneath The Weeping Willow And The Beginning Of Forever

When I reached the altar, my father smiled warmly, placed my hand into Adrian's, and whispered, "Take care of my girl."
"Always," Adrian promised, his voice steady and resolute.
We turned to face the officiant, an old family friend of the Mercer family, but in that moment, the rest of the world completely melted away. There were no syndicate bosses, no federal investigations, no ghostly whispers of the past—just the two of us, surrounded by love.
Adrian took my hands in his, his calloused fingers warm and grounding. He looked deep into my eyes, speaking his vows without looking at a single note:

You didn't just teach my daughters how to sleep through the night; you taught me how to live again. You brought light into a place that had forgotten what the sun looked like. Today, I promise to protect you, to cherish you, and to love you for every sunrise and every sunset for the rest of my days."
My voice trembled slightly as I recited my own vows: "Adrian, when I stayed in that nursery holding your daughters, I knew my life was never going to be ordinary again. You are fierce, protective, and deeply loving. I promise to stand by your side through every storm, to be a mother to your girls, and to love you unconditionally, today and forever."

"With the power vested in me," the officiant smiled, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Adrian, you may kiss your bride."
Adrian didn't hesitate. He pulled me into his arms, dipping me slightly as he pressed his lips to mine in a deep, passionate kiss that drew thunderous applause, cheers, and giggles from Lily and Emma.
