Chapter 11 - Dawn Over the Restored Empire

The first rays of golden sunlight broke through the heavy grey storm clouds, casting a warm glow over the vast expanse of the Vance Maritime Shipyard below. The storm had passed, leaving behind crisp morning air and a harbor sparkling like polished diamonds. I stood on the upper observation deck of Terminal Four, holding an unlit cigar. Below me, massive gantry cranes were back in motion, swinging structural steel into place with synchronized precision. Marcus stepped out onto the platform, handing me a steaming cup of dark espresso. “All regional terminals report normal operating capacity, boss. The new maritime trade agreements with our European partners were ratified by the board at midnight.” I took a sip of the espresso, setting the cup down on the steel railing. “And Clara?” “Safe house confirmed, boss,” Marcus replied. “Her brother’s medical treatments are fully funded for the next ten years, and Clara requested a permanent position managing the estate’s historical archives. She starts Monday.” I nodded slowly. Loyalty deserved to be rewarded just as swiftly and decisively as treachery was punished. The rot had been excised from the root, the vault resealed, and the family name restored to its position of untouchable dominance.
