Chapter 10 - The Bloodless Victory at the Docks and the Realization That My Queen Never Left My Throne

The snowstorm was blinding by the time our SUV pulled up near the perimeter of the northern shipping docks. The massive industrial warehouses loomed out of the dark, their steel loading bays quiet under the freezing blizzard.
According to Marcus's encrypted text messages, Salvatore Gambino's strike force had already arrived, positioning themselves near Warehouse 4. Inside, Vince and Paulie were waiting to ambush my loyalists.
But Isabella's digital trap had already been sprung thirty minutes prior.
We sat in the parked SUV with the engine idling, watching the monitors on Isabella's laptop. Suddenly, the secure radio frequency frequency used by Vince and Paulie crackled to life with frantic shouting.
*"What do you mean my account is empty?!"* Vince's voice screamed over the comms, echoing through our speakers. *"The thirty million wire transfer just vanished! Salvatore, you son of a bitch, you double-crossed us before the job even started!"*
*"I didn't touch your money!"* Salvatore's voice roared back in furious confusion from the opposing channel. *"You think I'd rob my own captains during a raid? You're playing me, Moretti!"*
Chaos erupted instantly over the secure frequencies. Accusations flew back and forth like gunfire. Within five minutes, the fragile alliance between the Gambino strike force and my corrupt capos completely imploded. Instead of fighting my loyal men, Vince and Paulie turned their weapons on Salvatore's advance guard, while Salvatore ordered his snipers to target the traitors.
I watched the security camera feeds with sheer awe. Not a single shot had been fired by my side, yet our enemies were actively destroying each other from within.
"It's done," Isabella said quietly, closing the laptop lid. "The Gambino strike force is retreating back toward the state line, and Vince and Paulie are currently being detained by Marcus's loyalists."
I turned in the driver's seat, looking at my wife. The harsh glow of the dashboard lights illuminated her face, highlighting her sharp jawline and unwavering gaze. She wasn't just a survivor; she was the mastermind who had saved my entire empire in less than three hours without spilling a single drop of innocent blood.
"You saved everything," I said, my voice thick with emotion. "My empire, my life, my honor."

Isabella looked out the frosted window at the falling snow. "I didn't save your empire for you, Dante. I saved it because it's mine too. For eleven years, I helped build every brick of it."
She turned back to face me, her eyes softening just a fraction. "And now... you know what it truly costs to lose me."
